So you know you need Wooden Pallets, but do you have any idea what you want? Are you assuming that a Standard Pallet is the right choice for you? Most people don’t realise that they have a choice when it comes to buying pallets. The choices are ENDLESS so here’s 3 tips to help you narrow down your choices.
SPACE AND EQUIPMENT
If you’re limited to the space you have in your warehouse and move your goods on a trolley jack then you should consider a 4 WAY ENTRY PALLET. Choosing this option will give you access from all sides of the pallet and give you smooth easy entry with your trolley jack.
APPLICATION
Most wooden pallets come with gaps between the slats on the top boards. If you have a product that can slip through the cracks or work their way down, a CLOSED DECK PALLET is a much better choice.
SIZE
Standard Pallets are 1170 x 1170 if you’re finding your goods get damaged in shipping then you need to consider that maybe your pallet isn’t the right size. It might cost you more to buy the pallet but you’ll be saving on the your damages bill and customer complaints.

AMAZING USES FOR WOODEN PALLETS LIKE THE PALLET PAVILION IN NEW ZEALAND

I was looking at articles on Wooden Pallets, as I do, and stumbled across a video about the Pallet Pavilion in Christchurch NZ. Can you believe its been over 2 years now since their earthquake and the businesses have still been unable to build on their sites and get everything back to normal.
Whilst they’ve been held back with not being able to get permits to start construct, the people of Christchurch have created spaces such as the Pallet Pavilion made from recycled building materials and industrial packaging to allow there to be some sort of ‘norm’ in their beautiful city. This temporary space has become a love with the locals so much so that they’re begging for it to stay.
There’s no denying the beauty that this has and its a no wonder we have so many calls from people wanting pallets for anything from a bed head to out door seating. It makes me want to convert our work lunch room into some sort of crazy pallet space, but being that we make them, I’m not sure that the guys in our factory would look at it with the same love and I do.

EXPORT CRATING – 3 TIPS FOR DOING YOUR OWN EXPORT CRATING
EXPORT CRATING
Making arrangements for Export Crating doesn’t need to be a painful exercise for you. There are companies like UBEECO, that can take care of everything for you. But, if you’re inclined to take on your own Export Crating then here are a 3 tips to help you along the way.
1 - All timber packaging used will need to be stamped with ISPM15 Certification. Whether you need a Crate or lengths of Timber , we’ll be able to get you all the gear you need.
2 - If your product is susceptible to rust, then prevent it by using a range of Rust Preventative materials that companies like us can supply you to get the job done.
3 - Don’t forget to think inside the box and get extra Timber Pieces to use in keep everything in place. You can even get it shaped to make sure you have a real snug fit.

SICK OF MESS FROM VOID FILL IN YOUR WAREHOUSE?

If there isn’t at least one person in your company complaining about that horrible annoying mess from Void Fill beads I’d be surprised. I don’t care how many eco friendly options you can buy these days; Greenpak, Biofill whatever, the fact of the matter is it’s a painful product to try and keep off the floor and inside boxes where it belongs.
Now even if for some reason your a little half half on how you feel about the mess it makes, just for a moment, consider your customer experience and what happens when they remove their goods from the bead filled box you send them.

WHAT ARE YOUR OPTIONS WITH EXPORT PALLETS?
EXPORT PALLETS
It may seem a little daunting if it’s your first time exporting, but getting an export quality pallet is easier than you probably think.
You actually have a number of options, so it’s all a matter of you working out what you need.
If you go for a Wooden Pallet you’ll need the pallets to be export quality which means it will carry the ISPM 15 Certification stamp. No big deal, pallet manufacturers like UBEECO are set up and ready to deliver this for you.
If you’re sending food or medical products you may wish to opt for a Plastic Pallet, no certification needed with these and they’re nice n clean. The extra bonus with the plastic pallet option is that they weigh substantially less than a wooden pallet which will save you when air freighting.
There are a number of advantages and disadvantages for using either option so its worth checking into to see what will work for YOU.

- Do you Export? Plastic pallets are significantly lighter in weight and will save you on freight costs…. saving on freight, who doesn’t like that?
- Do you need your pallets to be clean? If you think you can clean up a timber pallet, think again, the only sure way for a hygienic clean, is a plastic pallet
- Do you have any spill risks? Whether its a chemical or not, the last thing you want is the mess from spill leaks in your factory. Spill kits can be slipped into a plastic pallet.
- Do you hate paper work associated with ISPM 15 Timber Pallets…?? We know you’re out their, you probably ship food so you’ve got enough forms to fill in, so the plastic pallet can save 1 more document from being filled in and signed off.
